Emerging from New York's No Wave movement of the late 70s and early 80s, artists and filmmakers Beth B and Scott B made a series of shorts and features together under the moniker B Movies, often featuring NY legends like Lydia Lunch and Bill Rice.
In VORTEX, Lydia Lunch stars as a private eye in Beth B & Scott B's final film project together: a moody, cyberpunky, neon-noir set on the streets of NYC. A culmination of No Wave sensibilities leveling up from no-budget to low-budget, and from super-8 to 16mm.
While the original 16mm elements are unfortunately unusable, this is a new restoration from the original 3/4" video master courtesy of Kino Lorber, bringing VORTEX into clarity for the first time in decades, as opposed to the hazy VHS dubs & rips previously available.
