T.A.P.E. Collective Los Angeles invites you to their ongoing series for hands-on learning and readiness for equipment rentals. For about 2.5 hours on Tuesday nights we'll get together for a beginner-friendly, but all levels welcome, hands-on session with the TAPE equipment including best practices and basics of shooting. This session will cover the 50' Lomo moving image film processing tanks.
This series will offer an introduction to handling the equipment in the T.A.P.E. equipment rental library currently located at Whammy! The library includes Bolex Rex-5 cameras, 50' Lomo moving image film processing tanks, Super8 cameras, VHS camcorders, DV camcorders, VCRs, TVs, along with film editing equipment.
For this 50' Lomo tank workshop, expect to leave Whammy! with a better understanding and confidence for loading your 16mm and Super8 film onto a 50' Lomo tank, best practices for how to use the tank and maintain it, and a better understanding of the advantages of processing your own film. We will also provide eco-processing recipes and resources for where to purchase standard chemicals. Resources will also be provided for most artist-friendly archival scans in Los Angeles and some suggestions on a hybrid analog/digital filmmaking workflow. Feel free to register for the current full series including the Bolex Rex 5 camera session.
Donation based entry at the door - To attend you must be a current T.A.P.E. member on Patreon, which is only $5. Totally fine to register and then become a member, in that order.
