Every year we show exclusively shot-on-videotape works throughout September for something we call: SOV SEPTEMBER. Join us for this year's month-long exploration into the depths of some of the most under-appreciated margins of filmmaking. Usually no-budget, usually put together by small crews of friends (and family members, and neighbors), sometimes over-the-top gross, sometimes transgressive, and almost always like no other film you've ever seen - this series is for cinematically adventurous travelers only!
Director and video artist Jennifer Juniper Stratford joins Hollywood Entertainment and T.A.P.E. for a special evening of conversation and videos with insight into her work, her inspirations, her methods of shooting with and manipulating analog tools, and her mission as founder of Telefantasy Studios: a studio that creates immersive worlds through a hands-on practical approach, blending performance, set design, and analog processes. Telefantasy's work with collaborators like Sabrina Carpenter, Hunx and His Punx, Beach House, Geneva Jacuzzi, Doja Cat, Blippo+, and more has changed the visual language of the art, music video, video game, and commercial art worlds through videos that pay tribute to their retro roots while pioneering charged, clever, and thrilling new modes of storytelling.
Known for her unique style that is influenced by high fantasy low budget television, late-night TV, and 80s cult cinema (the decade most of her equipment was in production), JJ Stratford’s body of work reflects an alternative vision of Hollywood production that can only be described as Telefantasy.
JJ will be joined in conversation by T.A.P.E. Technical Director Jackie Forsyte to screen and discuss rare clips, behind-the-scenes footage and stories, music videos, and video work.
