Originally direct-to-video and rarely screened theatrically, SKINNED DEEP is a blood soaked, splatter filled, all-out bonkers slice of high concept, low budget filmmaking with a relentlessly frenetic energy and shot in beautiful full frame 16mm.
A love letter to THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1 & 2) with shades of THE HILLS HAVE EYES, but with a zaniness and style all its own and incredible creature designs and practical effects from director and FX master Gabe Bartalos.
Bartalos' pedigree in the world of practical effects is elite - having designed, sculpted, rigged, glued, and painted for the likes of Frank Henenlotter, Stuart Gordon, Tobe Hooper, Sami Raimi and many many more.
Featuring Warwick Davis as Plates, the plate throwing assassin, and a character named Brain (with a giant brain head), SKINNED DEEP is simply a great time at the movies folks, and one that should definitely be experienced with a crowd!
SYNOPSIS:
Gabe Bartalos’ mind-blowing work as an FX artist has included everything from Frank Henenlotter’s BRAIN DAMAGE and FRANKENHOOKER to Matthew Barney’s CREMASTER CYCLE. And for his 2004 debut as writer/producer/director, Bartalos created this demented horror movie about a rural clan of psychotic freaks. Warwick Davis (LEPRECHAUN) stars – with an appearance by fandom legend Forrest J. Ackerman – in this brutal TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE homage that features music by Captain Sensible of The Damned. (AGFA)
Director and special FX wizard Gabe Bartalos will be joining us for an in-person Q&A with writer Chris Shields!
