NIGHT 07 of the MONO NO AWARE residency at Whammy!
In this workshop participants will learn how to create lo-fi cameraless animations by printing directly onto film using a desktop laser printer! Download, learn and use software that allows for multiple techniques printing large image patterns and videos directly onto film. We’ll also cover basic shape tweens in Adobe Illustrator to add another layer of creativity and motion to your work. Participants will be given links to download the software before the workshop begins, and/or will have access to the computers / printers on site. You’ll have all the tools and software needed to continue the practice at home.
All equipment and materials will be provided for and the printed films will premiere at a screening party on Sunday March 3rd at WHAMMY!

INCLUDES: 3 hours of instruction and hands-on learning with instructors, 16mm clear coated leader - single perforated, printing software, double sided tapes and templates, light box, access to the in house printer, 16mm guillotine splicer and splicing tapes, leader, and markers. Course packet with technical information, software and video tutorials online.
Mono No Aware is a non-profit organization working to promote connectivity through the cinematic experience. Established in 2007, MONO maintains a full service motion picture learning lab in downtown Brooklyn where they; present public film screenings, organize affordable workshops, facilitate equipment rentals, distribute film stock, commission moving image work and program a bi-annual exhibition for contemporary artists and international filmmakers whose work incorporates Super 8mm, 16mm, 35mm or altered light projections as part of a live performance or installation.
Co-presented by TAPE - a Los Angeles based 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to facilitating support for analog media through free digitizing, education, hands-on training, equipment rentals and volunteer opportunities.
