Join TAPE Los Angeles for an outdoor cameraless filmmaking workshop on our patio!
Release the powerful potential of plant based photo developers and make phytograms with Philiph Hoffman of Film Farm! Making phytograms directly on film stock is a cameraless animation technique whereby you harness and use the chemistry of phenols present in plant matter and combine them with non-toxic household ingredients to form a photo developer and a natural way to make prints directly onto film from the plant structure itself!
We'll encourage you to bring in your own chosen plants, make films as a group and go over best techniques for getting varying types of print results on your film stock.
Joining us for more in-depth instruction around the animation techiniques inherent in motion picture film phytograms will be animator Annapurna Kumar!
Annapurna Kumar is a Southern California artist who makes animated films and soft sculpture. Her practice, though often abstract and fast-paced, carries soft-footed political messages on the themes of environmentalism, military divestment, and liberation.
