A woman named Carlotta is sent to acquire the rights to the films of reclusive movie icon Oriana Balasz, but soon discovers she will get more than she bargained for, as she is introduced to the dark, hedonistic forces that inhabit the mysterious estate. Taking its cue not only from VAMPYROS, but also his early 80’s gem MACUMBA SEXUAL, Franco explores many of the themes that infused his entire body of work, going all the way back to the beginning of his career. With more than a hint of the same nocturnal, dimension-sliding flavor that made works like INLAND EMPIRE so endlessly fascnating, Franco seeks to do the same just one year before Lynch released his seminal masterpiece.
